John Harr

John Harr, Jr., age 84, a resident of Meenon Twp., died Saturday, January 4, 2014. John was born on July 4, 1929 in Greenup, Kentucky, the son of the late John and Harriet (Moore) Harr, Sr. John grew up and lived in East Peoria, Illinois, for most of his life. On July 25, 1947, John married Donna Lou Antle. He worked for Caterpillar Company for 37 years retiring in 1984 as the General Foreman/Plant Manager. Since 1962 they have been coming to Lamphere’s Resort on Clam Lake where they enjoyed many family holidays, vacations and get togethers. Their love of the area brought them here full time after retiring. John was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Handyman Club of America. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, working in his woodshop, and spending time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Donna; 5 children: Mike (Kathy) Harr, Michelle (David) Hodson, Becky (Larry) Lamphere, John (Patty) Harr III, and Crystal Harr; 15 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; along with other relatives and friends. John was also preceded in death by his daughter, Vikki Harr; grandson, Dustin Harr; and brothers Caleb, Irvin, and Hank Harr. The funeral service for John Harr, Jr. will be conducted on Thursday, January 9, 2014, at 12:00 PM (with visitation from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM) at Swedberg-Taylor Family Funeral Home, Webster, with Pastor Gill White officiating.
