John Thomas Dennis, age 71, of Grantsburg, WI, passed away Wednesday, December 30, 2015. John was born in Saint Paul, MN, on January 17, 1944, son of John Devere and Margret Jane (Mullen) Dennis. He was educated in the public schools of North Saint Paul. On April 15, 1963, John was united in marriage to Paulette Alana Ellingson at Christ Lutheran Church in Saint Paul. He had been employed for many years with EcoWater Systems where he was involved with the manufacturing of water softeners. John and Paulette resided in Saint Paul and then Stacy, MN, most of their lives. They have been residents of the Grantsburg area since 2005. John had various hobbies and interests over the years. He loved nature and being outdoors. He received a lot of pleasure taking care of the yard, tending his gardens, and raising a variety of animals. He also enjoyed riding his recumbent bicycle. A caring, patient person with a great heart best describes who John is. He loved his family unconditionally, and greatly loved and was very much in love with his wife. Preceding John in death is his father, John D. Dennis; his step-father, William Stangel; and a sister, Barbara Dennis. John is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Paulette; his mother, Margret J. “Peggy” Stangel; three daughters: Linda (Scott) Schuler, Pamela Folske (John Carlson, Jr.), and Jill Machado (Timothy Shepard); eight grandchildren: Nicole and Ashley; Nathan, Tanhya and John; and John, Jesse and Antoinette; and nine great-grandchildren: Alyssa, Lyrick, Tyler, Ava, Athena, Freja, Alhiya, Hunter, and Jameson; and a great-granddaughter who will be born in January. He is also survived by three siblings: Patricia Lewis, Sharon (Jerome) Schowalter, and Joseph (Bridget) Dennis; and many nieces and nephews. There will be no formal services. Arrangements have been entrusted with Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Grantsburg, WI.
