John "Doug" Corbin, age 71, died peacefully at home on January 16, 2014. Doug was born on June 29, 1942, in Dairyland, WI, to Victor and Edith Corbin. On June 17, 1961, Doug married the love of his life, Sharon Fremont. They shared 52 ½ years together. Doug retired in 2001 after 27 years of service with Douglas County Highway Department. He was very active in the Dairyland community, serving as Town Constable, Fire Chief, and Town Chairman. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Doug enjoyed working at his grandfather's and father's sawmill, and making maple syrup and sausage with his family and friends. He also loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Surviving are his wife, Sharon; their four daughters: Doreen (Mike) Knutson, Dawn Snow, Diane (Jim) Corbin/Beckett, and Darla Sutton; ten grandchildren: Linsey (Mike) Ellis, Melissa (Josiah) Quenzer, Ashley (Ben) Knutson/O'Brien, Kelly (Billy) Buhler, Chad and Alicia Braunschweig, and Lester, Cheryl, Lucille and Bernadette Sutton; thirteen great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, other family and friends. He is also survived by his sisters: Shirley Rasmussen, Norma Fuller, and Linda Thompson; and his brother, Harvey Corbin. Besides his parents, Doug was proceeded in death by sisters: Helen Nelson and Mary Lou Fischer; son in-laws: Clint Sutton and Dennis Snow; and granddaughter, Leagh Casey. The memorial service for Doug Corbin will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 24, 2014, at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, Jan. 23rd, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Honorary pallbearers are his 10 grandchildren.
