Janice Marek , 72, of Grantsburg, passed away unexpectedly on June 22, 2018.
Janice was born in St. Paul, Minnesota on July 18, 1945 to Edward and Bernice Melquist. When Janice was 11, she and her family moved back to her parents’ hometown of Grantsburg, WI. She married her high school sweetheart, Myron Marek, in 1964 and had two children, Tony and Cheryl. Janice was a hairdresser who operated Jan’s Beauty Salon for many years and retired in 2012.
Janice was preceded in death by her husband of 34 years, Myron; and parents, Edward and Bernice Melquist.
Janice is survived by her children, Tony Marek of Superior, WI and Cheryl (Daryl) Wedin of Grantsburg; brother, Wayne Melquist of St. Maries, ID; and sister, Karen Rudsdil of Prior Lake, MN; grandchildren: Kjersten, Gustaf, Anna and Erika Wedin; and many nieces and nephews.
As per Janice’s wishes there will be no service. Arrangements have been entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Grantsburg. Online condolences may be expressed at www.swedberg-taylor.com
