James Tyson

August 30, 1942 — November 13, 2014

James Kenneth "Jim" Tyson, age 72, of Danbury, WI, passed away Thursday night, November 13, 2014. Jim was born in Superior, WI, on August 30, 1942, son of the late Albert and Beatrice (Silver) Tyson. He attended Catholic Schools in Superior, and then attended Superior Central High School, graduating in 1960. On June 9, 1964, Jim was inducted into U.S. Army, and was honorably discharged from active service and transferred to the U.S. Army Reserve on May 24, 1966 with the rank of SP4. On September 26, 1987, Jim married Shirley R. Zehm at the Spooner United Methodist Church. A compassionate and patient person, Jim helped raise his three daughters as well as care for thirteen foster children. He was employed over thirty-two years in the Sales Dept. of Force America, a leading innovator in mobile hydraulic solutions, retiring in September 2005. Sunday in Jim and Shirley's home was a family day, beginning with attending First Baptist Church of Webster. Friday evenings were also very special in the Tyson home. After being gone all week due to his job requirements, Jim would purchase a movie on his way home. He then would take all his children out for pizza and ice cream, and then return home to watch the movie he had purchased. Jim was also known for his sense of humor, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, swimming, and watching the Green Bay Packers. Jim is survived by his wife, Shirley; children: Ashley (Jason) Beach, Melinda Tyson (s.o. Zach), and Megan Tyson; grandchildren: Abrianna Beach, Malachai Beach, and Jason Beach Jr.; brothers: Gerald (Gail) Tyson and Richard (Carol) Tyson; and brother-in-law, Phillip Hillbeck. He is preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Beatrice Tyson; and siblings: Jean Farone, Robert Tyson, William Tyson, Nancy Hillbeck, and Dennis Tyson. The Tyson family will greet relatives and friends on Monday, November 17, 2014, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster, WI. Jim's funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am (visitation 10:00 to 11:00 am) on Tuesday, Nov. 18th, at First Baptist Church of Webster, with Pastor Tim Quinn officiating. Full military honors will conclude the service followed by a fellowship luncheon at the church. Burial will be in the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Spooner, WI.
