James “Jamie” Edward Mier, age 56, of Siren, passed away on Saturday, February 11, 2017. Jamie was born on September 14, 1960 in Omaha, Nebraska to parents, Mary Alice (Larson) and Joseph Wesley Mier, Sr. He was the fourth of eight children; a proud twin to his sister, Julie. Jamie attended and graduated from Ladysmith High School in 1979. He was a long-time employee at DSI in Siren for 28 years. Jamie was involved with the Special Olympics Bowling and Track Teams for many years, earning various medals and awards that he was very proud of. Jamie was always very passionate about music. He was well known around the Siren area for singing at various community events. He liked to ride his scooter just about anywhere he could and in his spare time, he liked to play videogames. If you liked Jamie, Jamie liked you. He will always be remembered for his friendly personality and kind heart. Preceding Jamie in death is his parents; and brother-in-law, Steve “Butch” Mickelson. Jamie is survived by his siblings: Joe Mier, Ben Mier, Don Mier, Julie Mickelson, Annette Collier, Kathleen Mier and Jean Mier; special friend, Barb Lyga; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and good friends. The visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 15, 2017 from 4-7:00pm at the Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Siren. The Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 1:00pm (visitation from 12-1:00pm) at the Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Siren with Pastor Steve Ward officiating.
