James "Jim" Hunter, age 67, a resident of Siren passed away on Sunday, December 19, 2021.
Jim was born on March 27, 1954 to Dale and Delores (Richison) Hunter in Siren, WI. He spent his childhood on the family farm on Sand Lake.
In 1975, Jim married the love of his life Mary Cycenas and together they raised their 2 children Marc and Theresa. Jim joined the Siren Fire Department and was an active member for over 35 years. He was also a member of the Siren Ag Association; helping with community service projects, putting on dairy breakfasts, and taking kids on fishing trips to Canada.
Jim owned Siren Auto Supply for over 19 years where he met many lifelong friends. He also drove bus for Siren and later for Webster. After closing the parts store he worked at Webster Elementary School as a custodian. He enjoyed seeing and working with kids every day.
Jim found he had a love for blacksmithing. He could look at a piece of metal and see the artwork it would become at the end. He could often be found in the blacksmith shop working on a project and if you stopped in he was happy to explain what he was working on.
Jim also loved hunting, fishing, being outdoors and spending time with his family. His grandkids were an important part of his life and he spent as much time with them as he could. He spent lots of time teaching them things, having snacks, giving them mule rides, hunting, fishing, and just spending time with them.
Jim is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Tim; and sister, Lori.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Marc (Olivia) Hunter, Theresa (Billy) Fish; grandchildren, Evan, Jimmy, Ella; brother, Chuck (Dorinda) Hunter; brother-in-law, Dave Kopecky; nieces; nephews; and many friends.
A visitation/gathering for friends and family will be held at the Siren Fire Hall on Saturday, January 22, 2022 from 1:00 - 4:00 PM.
