Hazel Agnes Chelmo Hazel A. Chelmo, age 90, a resident of Webster, Wisconsin died Tuesday, May 6, 2008 at Spooner, Wisconsin. Hazel was born January 10, 1918 in Siren, Wisconsin to Claus and Grace Johnson. Hazel married Edwin R. Chelmo on June 12, 1938 in Pine City, Minnesota. Hazel was a teacher for 2 years in a one room schoolhouse before marrying Ed. She was a farmer's wife. After raising her family she got her degree and taught in Minong, retiring in 1983. She was also a 4-H Leader and State President of Wisconsin Homemakers. Hazel enjoyed participating in the Retired Teachers Association. Hazel was preceded in death by her parents, husband Edwin, daughter Joan Kay Stiles, infant grandson, brother Cecil G. Johnson and sister Mildred Johnson. Hazel is survived by daughter Gail Ann (Bob) Briggs of Towanda, Illinois, son Daniel E. (Pat) Chelmo of Wautoma, Wisconsin, sister Wilda (Bob) Lindquist of Boulder, Colorado, brother Louis Merlin (Marilyn) Johnson of Hot Springs Village, Arkansas, grandchildren David Briggs, Sarah Martin, Jonathon Stiles, Colin Stiles, Annette Roskam and Alan Chelmo, 9 great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Grace United Methodist Church with Pastor Cindy Glocke officiating. Music was provided by Inez Buboltz. Interment followed at the Lutheran (Chelmo) Cemetery in Meenon Township, Burnett County, Wisconsin. Casketbearers were David Briggs, Terry Martin, Jonathon Stiles, Colin Stiles, Lee Roskam and Alan Chelmo. Honorary casketbearers were Robert Briggs and Palmer Stiles. Memorials preferred to the family. Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster, Wisconsin.
