Gwendolyn Faye (Jones) “Gwen” Ellson, age 71, passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014. Gwen was born in Minneapolis, MN, on May 26, 1942, a daughter of the late Ernest and Geraldine (Earl) Jones. She grew up in northeast Minneapolis, attending public schools there, and was a 1960 graduate of Thomas Edison High School. On November 10, 1961, Gwen married Jeff Ellson at House of Faith Presbyterian Church in northeast Minneapolis. Residing in Minneapolis and St. Anthony Village, MN, Gwen worked for many years as the manager of business office at the nursing home, Trevilla of Robbinsdale. She was a member of Mount Carmel Lutheran Church. Following retirement in 2001, Gwen and Jeff moved to the Webb Lake, WI area, where Gwen enjoyed quilting, league bowling in Spooner, and attending the monthly luncheons with other ladies of the Webb Lake area. She also appreciated the opportunity to be an activity volunteer at Capeside Cove Nursing Home in Siren. Gwen’s life revolved around her family and she found great joy in the many weekends she hosted a houseful of her kids and grandkids. She loved cooking for her family, especially for her grandchildren. “Gwen was an Outstanding Wife, Mother, and Grandmother.” Surviving are her husband, Jeff; children: Steven (Sue) and Shari (Dave Meyer); grandchildren: Danielle (Curt) Asfeld, Blayne and Ryley Ellson, and Brady and Brett Wodarck; sisters: Bonnie (Don) Trout and Janice (Jack) Feyo; a brother, Bob Jones; and also nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters and spouses: Doris (Walter “Red”) Anderson and Dorothy (Joe) Piche’. A Memorial Service, honoring the life of Gwen Ellson will be conducted at Lakeside Community Lutheran Church, 28626 County Rd H Webster, WI (just north of County Rd A in the Town of Scott) at 11:00 am (visitation 10:00 - 11:00 am), Wednesday, March 12, 2014, with Pastor Bill Schroeder officiating. Honorary Pallbearers are her grandchildren. Arrangements have been entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster, WI. Gwen’s family extends their deep appreciation to the nurses and support staff of Regional Hospice for their remarkable and compassionate care.
