Genevieve Marie Shostedt, age 80, a resident of Margaret S. Parmly Residence in Chisago City, Minnesota died Saturday, December 13, 2008. Genevieve “Gen” was born August 22, 1928 in Siren, Wisconsin to William and Esther Burnikel. In 1947 she married Freddy Shostedt, and to this union was born son Gary. They lived in Stillwater, Minnesota all their married life; Fred passed away December 18, 1979. Gen continued to live in Stillwater until 2000 and then moved to Wyoming, Minnesota, to be closer to her son Gary and wife Bonnie. After several surgeries she moved to Margaret S. Parmly Residence in Chisago City. Gen was preceded in death by her parents, husband Freddy and infant daughter. Gen is survived by her son Gary (Bonnie), grandson Zachary (Shannon), great-grandsons Derek and John, granddaughter Siri (friend Jeff), sisters Ardyce (Cleo) Sandberg of Columbia Heights, Minnesota and Maxine (Leslie) Lindquist of Siren, Wisconsin, brother-in-law Wesley (Myrtle) Shostedt of Virginia, Minnesota, many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral services were Wednesday, December 17, 2008 at 11:00 AM (with 1 hour prior visitation) at Bethany Lutheran Church, Siren, Wisconsin, with Pastor John Clasen officiating. Music was provided by Fran McBroom, Corrine Root and the Harmonic Balance. Interment was at Lakeview (Mudhen) Cemetery in Daniels Township, Wisconsin. Casketbearers were Bob Wendel, Jeff Bailey, Kent Lindquist, Kyle Lindquist, John Johnson and Roger Sandberg and Honorary Casketbearers were Allen Shostedt and Greg Shostedt. Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Family Funeral Home, Webster, Wisconsin.
