Genevieve Marie Hegge , died peacefully in her sleep, of natural causes, on August 26, 2018, at the age of 94.
Preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Ruth Hegge; brothers, Warren and Willard Hegge; sisters, Marjorie Hegge and Marion Peterson; nephew, Todd Peterson; and nephew-in-law, Rich Swanson.
Gen is survived by her nieces, Mary Jo Swanson and Marlette (Dan) Peterson; nephews, Guy (Rosemary) Peterson, Dwight (Nancy) Hegge, Michael (Cheryl) Hegge, David (Catherine) Hegge, Daniel (Cindy) Hegge; sister-in-law, Betty Weeks (Marion); and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
Gen had a rich and fulfilling life. She was born on July 16, 1924 in Webster, WI, and was the second eldest of five Hegge children. The Hegge family moved to their family farm in Grantsburg, WI, in the 1930’s where Gen lived until graduating from Grantsburg High School in 1942.
Always a strong and independent woman, Gen had a long and successful career as a valued employee at USF&G insurance in Minneapolis, retiring in 1989. Over the years, as a resident first of St. Paul and later of Minneapolis, Gen devoted much of her life to caring for others. She first cared for her elderly aunts and then later for her father and her beloved disable sister, Marjorie. After retirement, Gen moved back to Grantsburg to be near her family and many church family and friends.
In Gen’s twilight years, she moved to Elk River to be closer to her niece, Mary Jo, who lovingly assisted Gen with all her affairs.
The family will hold a private burial. A Memorial Service will be held on September 22, 2018, at 11:00am at Bethany Lutheran Church in Grantsburg, WI.
