Gene M. Larson

Age 88 | March 17, 2025

Gene M. Larson, 88, of Frederic, WI, passed away quietly in his home on March 17, 2025. He is survived by his loving wife, Loretta R. Larson; his son, Curtis Larson and significant other Theresie; his stepsons, Matt Waidzulis and Jason (Erin) Waidzulis; his mother-in-law, Regina Andrijauskas; his grandson Samuel; and his granddaughter, Josie. Gene is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many dear friends, especially those from the Corvette Club.

Born and raised in Minnesota and Wisconsin, Gene developed a strong work ethic early in life, working on farms and excelling in basketball during his youth. He was a dedicated mechanical engineer, known for designing a patent for commutators, and was always willing to lend a hand, whether at home or work. Gene met Loretta through work in Illinois, and they shared 28 wonderful years together. They married at the Brainerd International Raceway in Minnesota, a fitting venue for their shared passion for cars.

Gene's pride and joy was his race-prepared 1985 Corvette, a testament to his love for speed and precision. He was an active member of both the Suburban Corvettes of Minnesota and the Sunburst Corvette Club, where he forged lasting friendships and shared countless memories.  Beyond his automotive interests, Gene enjoyed fishing, woodworking, cooking, and tending to his yard. His ever-present smile and zest for life were contagious, leaving a lasting impression on all who knew him. A kind and gentle soul with big bear hugs.

Gene's legacy is one of hard work, kindness, and an unwavering willingness to help others. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and the communities he touched throughout his rich and fulfilling life.

Celebration of life at Ft Snelling for friends and family, and the burial will be on May 23rd at 9:45 am.
