Gene Edin

Gene Edin, age 70, of Grantsburg, passed away at his home, surrounded by his family and his lifelong friend, Harold, on Tuesday evening, February 18, 2014. He was born in Grantsburg on February 7, 1944, son of the late Elmer and Viola (Swanson) Edin. He attended local public schools, and was a 1962 graduate of Grantsburg High School. On April 14, 1984, Gene married Barbara Bannister in Millbank, South Dakota. They enjoyed camping and fishing together. She passed away on April 14, 2012. Gene was employed at Northern Manufacturing Company in Grantsburg for over 40 years. Surviving are a son, Scott (Pam) Edin; stepchildren: Becky Crocker (Tim) and Duane Selander; three grandchildren: Sam, Zack, and Casey; and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Barbara; and a brother, Elwood, Edin. A memorial service will be conducted at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Grantsburg Chapel at 6:00 pm (visitation 5 – 6 pm) on Tuesday, February 25, 2014, with Rev. Steve Ward officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
