Francis Clark "Bud" Danielson, age 97, of Grantsburg, passed away Sunday morning, May 4, 2014. Bud was born in Trade Lake, WI, on February 14, 1917, a son of the late Enfred and Elsie (Clark) Danielson. He grew up on the family farm in Trade Lake and attended Round Lake School. On March 6, 1942, Bud was inducted into the U.S. Army. He was involved with campaigns in the Rhineland, Northern France, and Central Europe. He earned the Europe-Africa-Middle East (EAME) Service Ribbon with 3 bronze stars, American Service Ribbon, and the Good Conduct Medal. He was honorably discharged from active service on November 1, 1945. Prior to his separation from the Army, Bud was united in marriage to Arlene Marie Halverson at the Trade Lake Baptist Parsonage on August 11, 1945. Besides residing in the Grantsburg area, Bud and Arlene also lived in St. Paul and Minneapolis, MN, for many years, where Bud worked at Champion Motors (Outboard Engines) and RapinWax Paper Co. He then was employed with Burnett County Highway Dept. for over 21 years, retiring in 1982. Bud was a long time member of Faith Lutheran Church (formerly English Lutheran Church) in Grantsburg, and was a past church council member. He was also a member of the Grantsburg American Legion, Post 185. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, deer hunting, travelling, collecting coins, and tending his lawn. Surviving are his wife of 68+ years, Arlene; two sisters: Margaret Curry and June (Bob) Sample; a brother, Donald Danielson; sisters-in-law: Carol Lysdahl and Angeline (Kenneth) Anderson; three foster children; and numerous nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews. Bud was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Larry and Lloyd; a sister, Muriel; and a brother-in-law, Jon "Jake" Lysdahl. The Memorial Service honoring the life of Francis C. "Bud" Danielson will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday (visitation 12:00pm - 1:00pm), May 10, 2014, at Faith Lutheran Church, 421 S. Russell St., Grantsburg, WI, with the Rev. Sandy Hutchens, officiating. Full military veteran honors will follow the service. Interment in Riverside Cemetery, Grantsburg, will be at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Grantsburg Chapel.
