Evone Finch

July 31, 1934 — October 9, 2024

Evone Finch, age 90, a resident of Grantsburg, WI passed away on October 9, 2024 at the Burnett Medical Continuing Care Center in Grantsburg, WI.

Evone was born on July 31, 1934 in Grantsburg, WI to parents Milton and Olive (Hakseth) Jensen.

Evone married the love of her life, Lyle Finch on April 2, 1955 in Grantsburg, WI. They raised four children together.

Through the years Evone enjoyed sewing, wood working and loved spending time in her vegetable and flower gardens. She enjoyed watching birds at the feeders and had a special love for hummingbirds.

Evone enjoyed spending time with family and friends golfing and fishing. She was a true fan of the Milwaukee Brewers and the Green Bay Packers. But the sport she loved the most was the one that her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were participating in at any given time through the years. Watching them excel gave her so much joy.

There were two special times of the year that Evone particularly looked forward to. The blueberry picking season with her sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews or whoever wanted to join in on the fun. The second was the Christmas Holiday baking season with her daughters, grandchildren, sisters, nieces and friends. It was these times with loved ones making memories that she cherished the most.

Evone had a passion for quilting. Through the years she loved spending time quilting with her sisters and sharing her knowledge of and quilting with her daughters, granddaughters, nieces and friends. Many quilts were made by Evone for family and friends. She enjoyed her Wednesday morning quilting with friends at Faith Lutheran Church. She was so thrilled with the 1st Place Exceptional Exhibit ribbon she received for her quilt entry at the Burnett County Agricultural Fair this past August.

Evone’s love for her family is what she will be remembered for the most. She loved large family gatherings. Be it reunions, weddings or an impromptu get together, being surrounded by her family making happy memories is what brought her the most joy.

Evone is preceded in death by her husband, Lyle; parents, Milton and Olive; 4 brothers, Maynard Jensen, Milton Jensen, Jr., Bennie Jensen, Dwight Jensen; 2 sisters, Betty Verdick and Lenore Anderson; 1 son, Glen Finch; and a grandson, Jeremiah Finch.

She will be forever missed by her children, Barbara Olson, Linda (Kim) Huntley and Scott (Janet) Finch; grandchildren, Andrew, JoAnn, Corey, Kyle, Jennifer, Olivia, Megan, Shane, Anita, Justin, Jeremy, Jordan, Aimee and Abbey; siblings, Beatrice Strachota, Glen Jensen, Kay Kenyon, Lulette Human, Rodney Jensen, Annette Edaburn and Arlen Jensen; extended family of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews along with many friends.
