Eunice B. Gardner, age 83, of Webster, WI, passed away Monday, August 17, 2015, at a hospital in Saint Paul, MN. She had been a resident of the Continuing Care Center in Grantsburg for the past 5 years. Eunice was born in Wautoma, WI, on September 28, 1931, a daughter of the late Albert Henry and Beatrice Ivy-Augusta (Temple) Rohde. She attended public schools in Waushara County, WI, graduating in 1948 from Wautoma High School. On September 28, 1967, Eunice married Harold Henry Gardner, and they lived in Hinsdale, IL, for many years. Eunice was employed as a Nurses’ Aide at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital retiring in 1987. She and Harold then moved to their home in the Webster area. Harold passed away on October 30, 2000. Eunice was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Frederic, WI, and was a devout Christian lady. She was a selfless person and full of joy. She was continually giving to others, as she cared about the needs of others before her own. Eunice loved to write poetry, and was a member of the International Society of Poets. She was able to attend one of the society’s conventions in Washington, D.C. Known as the “Heart of the Party,” Eunice was a very friendly, social person, and loved being around other people. She enjoyed doing crafts and crocheting. Most all though, she loved organizing activities and games while residing at the Continuing Care Center in Grantsburg, and was named Assistant Activity Director because of her dedication and zeal. Preceding her in death are her parents, Beatrice and Albert Rohde; her husband, Harold Gardner; a sister, Shirley Rohde; and a son, Robert James Weyenberg, in infancy. Eunice is survived by two daughters and their spouses: Jeannie (Gerald) Wicklund and MaryLou (Allan) Timblin; grandchildren: Robin Matthew Weyenberg and Karen Marie Schram; and great-grandchildren: Maci Miller and Madison Miller. She is also survived by a brother, Clifford (Beverly) Rohde; step-grandchildren: Andrea Timblin and Joseph Timblin; step great-granddaughter: Kaitlyn Timblin; many nieces and nephews; and numerous close friends. A memorial service honoring Eunice’s life will be conducted at 11:00 am, Friday, August 28, 2015, at the Continuing Care Center, Burnett Medical Center, Grantsburg, WI, with Pastor John Redlich officiating. Music will be provided by Eunice’s daughters, Jeannie and MaryLou. A time of refreshments and fellowship will follow the service.
