Eugene Whitcomb

Eugene Joseph Whitcomb, age 83, of Siren, Wisconsin passed away on Feb. 24 at the Benedictine Living Center in Spooner, Wisconsin after a long battle with cancer. Eugene was born on May 24, 1931, to Clinton and Rosine (Kopischke) Whitcomb. He grew up in Princeton, MN and graduated from Princeton High School. He served his country in the National Guards during the Korean War. He worked at Honeywell in Minneapolis. On June 26, 1968, he married Doris Bartosh in Princeton, Minnesota and they enjoyed 47 wonderful years of marriage. His love of fishing was enjoyed with his wife and also working in their yard, feeding the birds and wild life that came around. He enjoyed many years of gun and bow hunting for deer with his brother, Arnold. Gene is remembered as a honest and hard-working man who loved to tell jokes and made everyone laugh with his sense of humor. He is survived by his wife, Doris of Siren, Wi; children, Mark (Laurie) of Elk River, MN; Beth (Larry) of Coon Rapids, MN, Annette of Mpls, Dianne of Michigan, Carrie (Stavan) of Bloomington, MN, his step-children, Roger Sommerfeld of Siren, WI, Darlene (Frank) Peach of Danbury, WI, Lynn ( Jim) Humphrey of Rockwall,Texas, his step-niece, Kathleen Jacobson of Siren WI. As well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Arnold (Sally) Whitcomb of Princeton, MN, Robert (Gloria) Whitcomb of Longmont, CO., Douglas (Donna) Whitcomb of Rhode Island, Sisters, Arlene Anderson of Princeton, Marlene Sauntman of Onamia, MN, Linda (Kerry) Burgraff of Onamia, MN; along with many nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends. Funeral Service will be Saturday, March 7, 2015 at 11am (Visitation from 10-11am)at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home Webster, Wisconsin with Pastor Steve Ward Officiating. Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home Webster, Wisconsin.
