Elvina Wellnitz

March 28, 1937 — June 28, 2024

Elvina Arlene (Hinze) Wellnitz passed away at the age of 87 on June 28, 2024, surrounded by her 4 daughters and grandchildren in her home in peace listening to gospel music.

Born in Siren on March 28, 1937, with twin brother Elvin to proud parents Herman and Bertha Hinze.

Elvina attended Siren School where she served as prom queen in high school and twin brother as prom king.
She babysat the neighborhood kids for pocket change just to turn around and buy a candy bar to split with her parents whom she loved so dearly.

After graduation she found herself heading to the big twin cities and worked for Montgomery as a typist, it is there that she would meet and train in what would later become her 2nd roommate to help pay the rent on a small apartment.

While at home one day in that small apartment there was a knock on the door and she opened it, there he stood tall, lean, and handsome dressed in his Navy Whites home to visit his sister which was Elvina’s newest roommate. Well since she was not there Elvina and Arnold spent time over several cups of coffee getting to know each other which turned into marriage, children, and 65 years together.

Elvina was very artistic and creative from pencil drawing to painting. She enjoyed attending church every Sunday, gardening, long sunny drives, watching the bird feeder and deer visit her yard along with those special visits from family and friends.

Elvina is preceded in death her husband Arnold, parents Herman and Bertha Hinze, brothers Alfred, Roy, Leslie, Larry and twin brother Elvin Hinze, sister-in-law Delores Hinze, son in law Thomas O’Brien and granddaughter, Tara O’Brien.
