Elvin A. Hinze, age 71, a resident of Siren passed away after an extended hospital stay on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at his home surrounded by loved ones. Al spent his last evening at home with family listening to nephews, Travis and Shane, playing guitar and singing favorite songs. Elvin was born on in Daniels Township, Burnett County, Wisconsin to Herman and Bertha Hinze. Elvin attended and graduated from Siren Schools. He served in the United States Marine Corp for two years. Elvin was employed at the Thompson Hayward Chemical Company in Minneapolis and also worked in construction. Elvin was an avid fisherman and hunter. Elvin was preceded in death by his parents, and brother Leslie. Elvin is survived by the love of his life, Charlotte Eggen of Siren, daughter Lorelei (Ernest) Voigt of Arlington, MN, Jo (Lee) Correll of Mankato, MN, Michelle (John) Donahue of Mayer, MN, brothers Alfred (Delores) Hinze of Roseville, MN, Roy (Nina) Hinze of Coon Rapids, MN, Larry (Barb) Hinze of Siren, Norman (Cathy) Hinze of Siren, twin sister Elvina (Arnold) Wellnitz of Siren, brother-in-law Dennis McQuillan, former wife Carol Hinze, and best friend Jim Taylor, 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and Charlotte's children Scott (Jenifer) Eggen, Jeff (Kim) Eggen, Tim (Jan) Eggen, Jean Sandberg, Joan (Dan) Proffit, her 14 grandchildren, and her 8 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at Siren United Methodist Church with Pastor Tom Cook officiating. Music was provided by organist Fran McBroom and soloist Pat Taylor. Interment followed at Lakeview Cemetery, Siren. Casketbearers were Jodie Wellnitz, Shane Hinze, Wes Hinze, Rob Hinze, Josh Proffit, Jean Sandberg. Honorary casketbearers were Jim Taylor, Paul Schauers, Swede Schauers, Mike Henricksen, Kenny Johnson and Grandchildren. Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster, Wisconsin.
