Eldo Anderson

A memorial service will be held at Grace Baptist Church for Roy “Eldo” Anderson on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016 at 2:00 p.m, with visitation starting at 1:00 p.m. Eldo passed away Nov. 2, 2016 at his son’s home in Grantsburg. Eldo was born in Grantsburg on January 15, 1933 to Roy C. and Shirley (Roberts) Anderson; he was the eldest of 5 children. Eldo went to the North Fork School then Grantsburg High School, graduating in 1951. After high school Eldo served 2 years in the U.S. Army; stationed in France. After an honorable discharge, he returned to his family home in Grantsburg. On Dec. 7, 1957, he married Beverly Okerlund, of Webster, at the old Wood River Baptist Church in rural Grantsburg. They have two sons; Eric and Kurt. Eldo built and ran the restaurant in Grantsburg, now known as the Kozy Kitchen, in 1959 until he sold it in 1976. During that time, he also worked as a Quality Control Inspector at Astrotech and Summit Gear in the twin cities area. Eldo enjoyed deer hunting, having built a cabin in the woods as his hunting headquarters. His first loves, other than God and his family, were his John Deere tractors, food, and conversation. Eldo was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Ardell. Survivors are his wife, of 59 years, Beverly. Sons Eric (Anne) and Kurt (Julie), brothers Paul (Lillian) and Dwight (Ruth), sister Peggy (Roger) Johnson, sister-in-law Lois Anderson, and several generations of nieces and nephews. Also, left behind are his grandchildren, Stephan (Tiffany); Sedalia, MO, Caneniah “Duke”; Duluth, MN, Holland Rose, Russell, Michael, Stephanie (Kurt); Solon Springs, WI, Luther, Jolene (Eric); Hudson, WI., and Leah (Zach); Eagan, MN. Eldo also has 6 great grandchildren, Bode, Stephan Jr., Kymber, Lily: Sedalia, MO., Jaelynn, and Teagan; Hudson, WI. Memorial contributions can be made to Grace Baptist Church marked “for Gideon Bible” or to the Grantsburg Senior Center. Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Grantsburg.
