Edward Proffit

Edward Earl Proffit, age 80, a resident of Sandstone, MN., passed away on March 20, 2024 at the Hennepin County Medical Center. Edward was born on May 22, 1943 in Superior, WI to parents Alfred and Betty (Jones) Proffit.

Edward married the love of his life, Janet Erickson on May 29, 1965.

Edward was known as a workaholic. Some of his occupations were truck driving, Phillips Petroleum, Kmart. Once Edward was retired, he enjoyed farming.

Edward owned his own hot air balloon. He hunted Elk for 30 years in Colorado. He also enjoyed deer and pheasant hunting in his free time.

Edward is preceded in death by his parents; son, Lamont; and sister, Amy.

He will be forever missed by his loving wife, Janet; children, Lisa Mcelderry; grandchildren, Justin (Lisa) Dodge, Laura Freer and Lindsey Mcelderry; special great granddaughter and his favorite flower, Violet Rose; great grandchildren, Grace, Joey and Michael; sisters, Althea (Robert) Quam and Laurie (Ken) Baalson; brother, Milton (Cheryl) Proffit; along with other relatives and many friends.

The funeral service for Edward will take place on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at 2:00 PM (visitation from 1-2 pm) at Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home in Webster, WI. with Pastor John Addison officiating. Burial will follow at the Markville Cemetery with pallbearers Terry Hadd, Wayne Royer, Brad Aker, Greg Pague, Arden Erickson and Gus Shonfield. Honorary pallbearers are Justin Dodge, Ben Raskin and Donny Proffit.
