Douglas Whiteside

January 30, 1952 — August 30, 2013

Douglas Dean Whiteside was born in Cedar Falls, Iowa on January 30, 1952 to Melvin and Donna Whiteside. They lived there until he was 8 years old then the family bought Stonegate Resort on Devils Lake in Webster. Doug and his brother Mike joined the army in 1969, serving in the Vietnam War. He then moved to Michigan and met Sharron Cabot and Ryan was born. Doug moved back to Danbury where he later met and married Annette Young. Matt was later born. Doug and Annette built a cabin in Alaska. They spent every summer there where Doug enjoyed hunting and fishing. Doug was a member of the Local Boiler Makers Union 169. He is survived by his sons Matt and Ryan (Melissa); and granddaughter Rian; step daughter Michell; step son Brad; step granddaughters Morgan and Jordan; sister Cindy (Dick) Davison; brother Mike (Jennifer) Whiteside; Randy (Judy) Whiteside; nephews Travis, Mike, nieces Stephanie and Tracy; along with great nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends. Preceded in death by his wife Annette; parents Mel and Donna; niece Shaunna Whiteside; nephew Tyler Davison. Funeral service will be held on Monday, September 9, 2013 at 11:00 AM (visitation 10-11 AM) at Swedberg-Taylor Family Funeral Home, Webster with Pastor Steve Ward officiating. A visitation will be held Sunday, September 8, 2013 from 5-8 PM at the funeral home.
