Dorothy Nelson

Dorothy A. Nelson, age 80, of Grantsburg, WI and formerly of New Brighton, MN passed away on November 29, 2012 at St. Croix Regional Medical Center. Dorothy was born on February 3, 1932 to Fred and Viola Yira in Grantsburg, WI. She attended Little Wood Lake and Grantsburg schools. On November 4, 1950 Dorothy was united in marriage to Kenneth Nelson in Frederic, WI. In her life, Dorothy worked at Frederic Plastic Company, Land O Lakes and Medtronic in Minneapolis, MN. She enjoyed golfing, gardening, sewing and knitting. She will be greatly missed. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Darlene Taylor, brother, Douglas Yira and granddaughter, Abigail Nelson. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth, children: Rick (Joanne) Nelson of Andover, MN, Gregory (Sally) Nelson of San Diego, CA and Darold (Lisa) Nelson of Fridley, MN, granddaughters: Katie Davis (Jack), Kristina Nelson, Rebekah Nelson, Malorie Campinoti (Giacomo), Bethany Nelson, Sarah Matz (Ben) and Lydia Nelson, two great-grandchildren: Jack Davis III and Gemma Campinoti, sisters: Arlene (Willard) Johnson and Sharon (Clifford) Cockerham and brother, Robert (Ruth) Yira. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2012 at 1:00 pm at Wood River Christian Fellowship, Grantsburg, WI with Pastor Dan Slaikeu officiating. Visitation will be held for an hour prior to services at the Church. Interment will be at Wood River Cemetery, Grantsburg, WI. Pallbearers are her grandchildren.
