She died surrounded by family on Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at the St. Croix Regional Medical Center at the age of 89. She struggled for several months with a blood disorder that eventually took her life.
She was born in Siren, WI on March 25, 1929 to Harold and Agnes Sterling. She had three sisters, Arleen Jones (deceased), Esther Mangelsen, and Norma Hillman (deceased).
She graduated valedictorian of the Siren High School Class of 1947. She attended River Falls State Teacher’s college and on March 28, 1948, she married George “Tiny” Doriott of Webster, Wisconsin.
She and Tiny lived in a home they both built on Larson Lake on land homesteaded by her grandfather Lars Larson.
Throughout her life she was a mother, homemaker, clerk at Nelson’s store and a clerical assistant at the Village Office. She was a life member of the VFW Auxiliary, Cub Scout den mother and member of the PTA.
She loved reading, and enjoyed crocheting, cooking and traveling.
All of her life she was a member of the Siren Methodist Church of which her grandfather was a founding member.
She is survived by her husband, George “Tiny” Doriott; sister Esther Mangelsen; children: Candace Doriott (Siren, WI), Sharon Doriott (St. Paul, MN), Beverly Doriott (Siren, WI), Larry and Rosario Doriott (Fishers, IN), Jerry and Vicki Doriott (Eau Claire, WI); grandchildren, Lindsey Prall (Kevin), Scott Parker, Rosario Doriott Dominguez and Ricardo Doriott Dominguez; and great-grandchildren Raegan Prall and Dwyer Prall.
Our mother enjoyed life, from cross-country skiing, camping and telling stories around a campfire, to nickel-machine gambling and a good meal and laughter with family and friends.
