Donald “Don” K. Carlson, age 75, a resident of Siren, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2020 after a short illness.
Don was born on July 17, 1944 at the Grantsburg Hospital, the oldest son of three siblings to Phillip and Anna Carlson.
He was a 1962 graduate of Grantsburg High School. He worked as a maintenance mechanic for over 40 years, retiring in 2008.
Don met the love of his life, LaVonne Stewart in July 1965. They were married 5 years later on July 18, 1970. They were blessed with two beautiful daughters, Amy Lynn and Kathi-Jo Marie; along with three wonderful grandchildren, Matthew, Kodie and Mollie. Don was fortunate to have spent some time with first great grandson, Bryer.
Don had been an active member of the Siren Lions Club for over 10 years. He enjoyed being outside, fishing, boating, hunting and working with his hands making beautiful wood furniture. He truly was a jack of all trades. There was nothing Don could not do if he put his mind to it.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Phillip and Anna Carlson; his sister, Kathleen; his in laws, Russell and Hazle Stewart.
Don will be sadly missed by his wife, LaVonne (Stewart) Carlson; his two daughters, Amy Erickson and Kathi-Jo Maneval; his three grandchildren Matthew Erickson, Kodie (Jade Merrill) and Mollie Anderson; his brother, Darold (Myla) Carlson; his brother in law, Barry (Mary) Stewart; his sisters in law, Joella Finch; along with many nieces, nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, June 12, 2020 from 1:00-3:00 PM at the Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster. Immediately following there will be a time for fellowship from 3:30-6:00 PM at Jed’s Laker Lounge in Siren.
