Diane Johnson

March 5, 1940 — April 5, 2022

On April 5, 2022, Diane Johnson of Danbury sadly passed away from double pneumonia at Abbot Northwestern Hospital. Her loving husband was by her side through the night and held her hand as she took her last breath.

Diane was born on March 5, 1940 to Stanley and Hazel Djock. She was the 5th of 7. Diane graduated from Siren High School in 1958. While in high school she sang in the choir and was Siren Jubilee Queen. Shortly after she graduated, she married her high school sweetheart, Jerry Kammeyer. In May of 1960 they welcomed their only child, a daughter, Rhonda Joy. They later divorced.

In 1976 Diane married a 2nd time to Vance Johnson. She and Vance built a house in Danbury, WI, where they had a happy and fulfilling life together. She spent many years working at the Siren Post Office until retirement, while also acting as a secretary and bookkeeper for VJ Construction, the excavating company Vance owns and operated.

Diane loved making crafts of different varieties. She sewed, knitted, painted and much more. In her younger years she enjoyed bowling and golf. Diane was always up to a game of cards of dominoes, sharing her contagious smile each round. On Wednesdays she looked forward to dime bingo at the Webster Senior Center. She was an excellent baker and often made cookies candies and fudge on the holidays for others. Diane was an avid reader and puzzle book solver. She and Vance enjoyed going to their winter home in Arizona.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Stanley and Hazel Djock, of Siren; two sisters, Connie Hunt and MaryAnn Kranz; and brother, Ronnie Djock.

She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Vance Johnson (Danbury); daughter, Rhonda Thomas (Webster); two stepsons, Greg (Jill) Johnson (Edina), Bryon Johnson (Danbury); granddaughter, Ashley Karl (Shawn); three stepdaughters, Amanda (David) Chen, Abigail Johnson, Angelique Johnson; great granddaughter, Olivia Phetteplace; brothers, Charlie Djock (Robbinsdale), Bruce (Linda) Djock (Stillwater); sister, Terri (Gene) Ackland (Webster); four sisters-in-law, Karen Garrison (Wyoming, MN), Carla Peterson (New Richmond, WI), Jan Hahn (Circle Pines, MN), Lynn Johnson (Wyoming, MN); many nieces, nephews and friends.
