David Raymond Hoffman , 73, died on December 4, 2017 in his home on Fish Lake in Danbury, WI, of a sudden heart attack. He was born in Manitowoc, WI, on March 12, 1944. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mona; daughter, Jennifer (Chris) Vitek; granddaughter, Tannyr Heyl; grandson, Gordy Vitek (fiancé, Bridget); siblings: Lorene (Bob) Melin, Bud (Sheryl) Hoffman, Marlys (Jeff) Hoeft, Linda (Lee) Cox; sister-in-law, Sandy Hoffman. Preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Alice Hoffman; sister, Denise (Stan) Pedersen; brother, Doc Hoffman. David grew up in Hutchinson, MN, graduating in 1962. He attended the U of M on a baseball scholarship, coached by Dick Siebert, and was a member of the 1964 National Baseball Champion team. After graduating from the U, he was drafted by the Twins Organization and two years later, drafted by Uncle Sam. He married his college sweetheart Mona Holloway on September 2, 1967. After 2 years in the military, he earned a Masters in Social Work from Tulane University. Dave was employed as a licensed Clinical Social Worker at the Ramsey County Mental Health Clinic for 27 years. David was a news junkie, loved sports, travel, outdoor activities, time with family and friends and often proclaimed, “life is good”. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend and loving man who will be deeply missed by all who knew him. The Memorial Gathering will be held on Sunday, December 10, 2017 from 3:30pm – 6:30pm with a service beginning at 4:30pm, followed by a time of fellowship, at the Shoreview Community Center, 4580 Victoria St. N., Shoreview, MN.
