Clara Marie Lilly, age 91, passed away Monday, February 24, 2014. Born June 11, 1922 in Staples, Minnesota, Clara was the daughter of the late Louis M. and Flossie E. (King) Burke. On July 17, 1946, Clara married Glendon Lyle Lilly in St. Paul, MN. He passed away January 12, 1980. They were longtime residents of Markville in Arna Township, Pine County, MN. She moved to Elderwood of Hinckley Assisted Living on November 1, 2010. Clara was a member of First Baptist Church in Webster, WI. Fondly called the “Mayor” of Markville, Clara was a past member and treasurer of the Arna Town Board, and served as an election judge for Pine County. She was also a member of the Markville Community Club, Cloverton Homemakers, and Seven County Senior Federation. Clara and Glen had also been caretakers for Wood Lake Bible Camp during the 1970s. A very giving person, Clara would help anyone in the community with a need including, mowing lawns and providing transportation to the physician’s office or to go shopping. Surviving are a son, Michael (Brenda) Lilly; granddaughter, Michelle (Neil) Lyons; great-granddaughter, Nikki Lyons and great-grandson, Travis Lyons. Also surviving are two brothers, Eugene (Peg) Burke and William Burke; a brother-in-law, Melvin Lilly; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Glen, as well as grandson, Michael H. Lilly; and siblings and their spouses: Kenneth (Marie) Burke, Adlord Burke, Gertrude (Ray) Mohler, Gerald Burke, Maurice (Vikey) Burke, Edward (Bonnie) Burke; and two brothers in infancy, Howard Burke and Roger Burke. The funeral service for Clara Lilly will be conducted on Friday, February 28, 2014 at 11:00 am (visitation 10 - 11 am) at First Baptist Church, 7422 W. Kola St. (corner of Lakeland Ave. N), Webster WI, with Pastor Ken Hyatt officiating, and Pastor Tim Quinn assisting. A fellowship luncheon will follow. Interment in Markville Cemetery will be held in the Spring. Casketbearers are: Gene Lilly, George Lilly, Gene Salay, Rod Matrious, Dan Matrious, and Bryan Nordquist. Honorary bearers are: Larry Matrious, Jeff Matrious, Harold Matrious, Randy Matrious, Geno Salay, and Greg Mishler. Arrangements are entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Funeral Home, Webster, WI.
