Christina Salay

Christina Matrious Salay (MISKWAAGAMINOOKWE) age 79, of Roseville, MN passed away on May 14, 2024.

Christina "Rudie" Matrious was born September 20th, 1944 to Henry and Mary Matrious. She grew up in Ogema Township with her parents and siblings near the St. Croix River and attended Sandstone public school.

Chris married the love of her life, Eugene Salay on May 10, 1969 in Markville, MN. In March of 1970, they welcomed their only child, Eugene "Geno" Salay.

In her younger years, Chris enjoyed spending time with friends and family bowling, playing golf and softball, and traveling. In her later years, her focus moved towards spending time with family. She made sure she was at every family gathering, holiday, and event. Chris also enjoyed the Great Minnesota Get Together, where she always had to get a turkey leg, and has gone to the opening day of every State Fair for years (and a few more days each season).

She is preceded in death by her dad, Henry; mom, Mary; brothers, Lawrence and James; sisters, Bernice and Catherine; and great granddaughter, Jasmine.

Christina is survived by her loving husband, Eugene; son, Geno; daughter-in-law Tina; grandchildren, Jamie, Savannah, and Cayden; sister, Brenda Lilly; along with other relatives and many friends.

Friends may call after 6:00 PM on Friday, May 17, 2024 at Lake Lena Community Center. Funeral service will be held at the community center at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 18, 2024 with burial to follow.
