Charlotte Ann Eggen (Baker) , age 88, of Siren, previously from Webster, passed away on July 10, 2019, at Burnett Medical Continuing Care Center in Grantsburg, WI.
Charlotte was born on June 1, 1931, in Jackson Township, at the family farm, to parents, Ethel (Franklin) and Leonard Chelmo. She left the family farm in Webster her Junior year. She graduated from Grantsburg High School in 1950. During her school years, she worked beside her dad on the farm. Then in high school during Summers at the Branstad Store and Stokley’s Canning Factory in Frederic, WI.
Charlotte was united in marriage to the love of her life, Stanley Eggen, on October 20, 1950, in Baldwin, WI. Together they had three sons: Scott, Jeff and Tim. Charlotte worked on the farm in Grantsburg and at the bank in town. Stanley passed on March 14, 1962.
In October of 1963, she married Guy Baker and together they had two daughters, Jean and Joan. Charlotte then divorced guy in 1982.
Charlotte continued to work at Richfield MN Bank, Prior Lake MN Bank, Valley Bank Utah, Scottsdale AZ Bank. She then went back to Firstar Bank in Webster until she retired. After about 5 months, she went back to work at the Danbury Casino, in the cage dealing with the money for 15 years. She finally retired at the age of 80, due to health reasons.
She enjoyed outings picking Strawberries with her brother, Merle, and sister, June. Then making strawberry jam or pie. Charlotte loved to dance, gardening, loved planting and tending flowers, she loved to feed and watch the birds, reading books, fishing, then cooking fish and eating them. She loved to go to garage sales, where she got her beloved 6lb poodle, peanut.
Above all, she loved her 5 children and adored her grandchildren and the precious great-grandchildren she lived to see. And of course, the perfect princess, her baby peanut.
Charlotte also served on the Webster Fair board, Webster Chamber of Commerce and served as the Webster Citizen of the Year. She loved people and her community; she was the guardian of many people who had no one.
She will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren and great – grandchildren, family and many friends.
Preceding Charlotte in death are her parents; brothers: Lewis, Bud, Lyle, Clinton, Merle and Tom; sister, June; husband, Stan; 1 grandbaby; 4 great-grandbabies; great-granddaughter, Rose Marie Proffit.
Charlotte is survived by her sons: Scott (Jennifer), Jeff (Kim), Tim (Jan); her daughters, Jean and Joan (Dan); special daughter, Kim Johnson; her beloved peanut; grandchildren: Joey, Bobby, Benjamin, Olivia, Timmy, Andrea, Amy, Jessica, Amanda, Josh, Mitchell, Corey, Lia and Sarah; great-grandchildren: Cameron “Dutch”, Charlie, Pearl, Graham, Flynn, Kason, Khloe Rose, Rylie, William, James, Kendall, Zach, Alexis, Courtney, Daniel, Luke, Aiden and Hunter.
The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019, at 11:00am (visitation from 10-11am) at Bethany Lutheran Church in Grantsburg, with Pastor Jay Ticknor officiating.
