Major (US Army Retired) Charles John Hersant , age 77, passed away on August 20th, 2021 in Enterprise, Alabama.
Charles “Chuck” spent his youthful years in Webster until he entered the service in 1966 and continued serving his Country until he retired from the US Army in 1986. He then spent 23 years as a contract instructor helicopter pilot for US Army and Air Force teaching incoming flight students at Ft Rucker, Alabama retiring in 2009.
Retirement years were spent in Wisconsin during the summer with family, friends, and “fishing.” Webster, Wisconsin was where Chuck wanted to be laid to rest. It is coming home to a place that holds many fond memories.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; Ignatius and Marie Hersant, his sister, Patrica Christiansen; brother, Terrance Hersant and most recently sister; Diane Medaglia.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Alice of 54 years; children, Mark Hersant (Lisa) of O’Fallon, Ill, Alesha Tomerlin (Don) of Clarksville, TN and Matthew Hersant of Enterprise, Al; and grandchildren, Haley Hersant, Brett Hersant, and Christopher Tomerlin and beloved mother-in-law; Ruby Radke; nephews, nieces, cousins and many close friends.
A graveside interment of his remains will be held pn Saturday, July 30th, 2022 at 10:00 AM at the Oak Grove Cemetery In Webster in the Veteran’s Section with full military honors.
