Bill Foote, 85, of Webster entered eternal life to be with his Lord and Savior on September 22, 2011 at the Continuing Care Center in Grantsburg. He was surrounded by his family who loved him immensely. Bill was born August 14, 1926 to Lewis LeRoy and Georgienor Fern (Grimmer) Foote in Crosby, Minnesota. He grew up in Crosby while working with his father as a carpenter until he graduated high school in 1943. At the young age of 16, Bill enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served four years during World War II. After being honorably discharged and upon returning home to Crosby, Bill was united in marriage to Alyce Booth of Ironton, Minnesota in April 1949. Bill and Alyce were blessed with five children. After living in various parts of Minnesota for the first few years of their marriage, Bill and Alyce eventually settled in Webster. He was a devoted husband and father. Bill's favorite pastimes were hunting with his boys and working in his shop. He built many pieces of furniture, including special chairs for each of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bill was employed as the manager at Arrow Building Center for over 30 years. He was civic and service minded. He was a long time active member in Grace United Methodist Church, Frederic Masonic Lodge, as well as the AAD Temple of the Shrine. Bill was a charter member of the Webster Lions Club, member of the Otis Taylor American Legion Post #96, the Webster Fire Department, the Downtown Quarterbacks Club, and participated in numerous other civic events. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife of nearly 60 years, Alyce, two brothers Lynol and Gene; son-in-law Steven Brovold, two nieces Mary Ann and Mary, and most recently by his grandson, Kyle Christian. Bill leaves to honor the memories he made with us; his children Dave (Barb) Foote, Mark (Judy) Foote, Carolyn (Dave) Christian, Ione (Dave) Towner and Billie (Don) Ward. Also his grandchildren Amye (Harley) Mangen, Nick (Stephanie), Luke, Caleb and Abe Ward; Steve, Charlie and Colleen Foote; Kelly and Emily Towner, Abigail Christian, Adam and Mary Christian, and Stephanie and Daniel Cranney; great grandchildren Bailey, Brady, and Breck Mangen and Ellen; sisters-in-law Joan Foote and Vera Booth and a host of other relatives and friends. Visitation will be Sunday, September 25, 2011 from 4-7 PM at Swedberg-Taylor Family Funeral Home, Webster. Funeral services will be held Monday, September 26, 2011 at 11:00 AM (visitation 10-11 AM) at Grace United Methodist Church, Webster with Pastor Cindy Glocke officiating. Music will be provided by organist Karen Klink and soloists Charlie and Mark Foote Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery, Webster. Casketbearers will be Bill's grandchildren. The honorary casketbearers will be Joe Larrabee, Steve Wierschem, Keith Weis, Donald Brown, Tom Auer, Ed Peterson and Rod Hopkins.
