Berenice Myrtle Quernemoen, age 91, of Webster, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2015. Berenice was born in Lincoln Twp., Burnett County, WI, on January 7, 1924, daughter of the late Peter and Myrtle (Ahlstrom) Larson. In 1942, Berenice moved to Minneapolis, MN, where she served as a USO hostess during World War II. On July 31, 1948, Berenice married Oscar Theodore Quernemoen in Iowa. She was employed by Dayton’s Department Store in Minneapolis as a young adult and then later in life after raising her children. She was an active member of Bryn Mawr Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis. Berenice and Oscar returned to the Webster area in 1983. They were active members of First Baptist Church, Webster, WI, were close friends of Pastor Merrill Olson and his wife Jan. Berenice was a devoted Christian wife, mother and grandmother; and loved the Lord with all her heart. She was a very social and sociable person, and enjoyed having people visit and sharing a cup of coffee with her. She was also quite generous, and loved giving gifts to others. Berenice was a very creative person, and enjoyed crocheting, painting and making greeting cards. She also enjoyed nature walks and traveling throughout the country and Canada, as well as Sweden and Norway. Preceding Berenice in death are her parents, Peter and Myrtle Larson; her husband, Oscar Quernemoen, on April 7, 2001; a sister, in infancy, Alice Lydia Larson; a brother in infancy, Harold Everett Larson; stepdaughter, Cindy Zepeda; stepson, Michael Quernemoen; and step grandson, Gary Mulcahy. Surviving are six children: Linnea (Arlun) Koska, Bradford (Georgeann) Quernemoen, Kirsten (Thomas) See, Käri (Jerry) Ervin, Brent Quernemoen, and Mia (Rick) Besemann; two stepchildren: Lois Taylor and Frederick “Dutch” Quernemoen; thirteen grandchildren: Nathan (Amy) Koska, Peter Koska, Heather (Dennis) Weldon, Shellie Groess, Derrick See, Sarah (Chad) Mecl, Caleb (Marcia) See, Matthew (Annabelle) Whyte, Jordan (Colleen) Whyte, Amanda (John) Barrie, Ashley (Chad) Hanson, Ariel Nehotte and Amber Nehotte; eight step grandchildren: Kim Augenbaugh, Tony Quernemoen, Stacy Zepeda, Roxy Zepeda, Leland Quernemoen, Nicole Ervin, Vaughn Besemann and Caitlin Besemann; thirty-three great-grandchildren; and eleven great, great-grandchildren. Also surviving are a cousin, Ardis Swanson; many special friends; numerous other relatives and friends; and her precious cat, Lena. The funeral service for Berenice Quernemoen will be conducted on Monday, March 16, 2015, at 12:00 pm (visitation 10:30 am to 12:00pm) at First Baptist Church, Webster, WI. Interment will follow at Perida Cemetery, Lincoln Twp, followed by a fellowship luncheon at the church. Casket bearers are: Nathan Koska, Peter Koska, Derrick See, Caleb See, Matthew Whyte, and Jordan Whyte. Honorary bearers are Heather Weldon, Shellie Groess, Sarah Mecl, Amanda Barrie, Ashley Hanson, Ariel Nehotte, and Amber Nehotte.
