Arlan Jerome Pope, 74, of Webster. WI, passed away at home on April 29, 2017. Arlan was born Dec. 2, 1942 in Sioux City. IA, son of George and Gladys Pope. Arlan married his best friend, Pat Hughes. They were blessed with three children. He graduated from Webster HS and Northwestern Electronics. Arlan worked at Minneapolis Honeywell on the guidance system for Apollo and at IBM on what were the largest computers at the time. He was a partner in Pope and Peterson Excavating in Scandia. MN. Arlan was a reserve police officer for the Forest Lake Police Dept and an over the road trucker for International Transport. He started Rockall Enterprises, where one of his projects was working on the Ryan Expressway in Chicago. He started Arlan Pope Construction, and has crushed aggregate for many roads and projects in NW WI. Arlan enjoyed traveling all over the United States, Canada, Italy, France, Ireland and Mexico with family and friends. He especially liked Arizona and has spent many winters there with his wife, Pat. He faithfully attended Church on the Mount in Apache Junction, AZ and First Baptist Church of Falun and was formerly a member of Siren United Methodist Church. He liked hunting, car shows, snowmobiling, 4 wheeling, bowling, country music, and watching football games. His most treasured times were spent with family and with his close friends, who he counted as family. Arlan will be missed by Pat, his wife of 57 years; children: Debbie Dean, Dana (Dale) Polaski and Arlan Pope Jr. Also, missing their Bumpa are grandchildren: Jesse Dean, Tim (Liz) Dean, Elena (Taylor) Focht, Rebecca Moser Merrill, Jared Moser, Tyler (Avery) Pope, Daniel Pope, Tatyana (Corey) Crick, Victoria Pope, Diana Pope, Emilie Pope, Zachary Pope, and Naomi Pope. His great grandchildren are Levi, Jacob, Abby, Eva, Audrie, Jerome, Charlie and Henry. Arlan is also survived by sisters-in-law: Fern (Mick) Gomulak, Nancy (Mike) Peterson, Sharon Hughes; nieces, nephews and other relatives; as well as many dear and special friends. Arlan was preceded in death by his father, George Pope; mother and stepfather Gladys and Earl Dumjohn; brother, Marlow (Ruth Anne) Pope; and sister, Loueva (Howard) Voght. Memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church of Falun at 11:00, Sat. May 6. Friends are invited to join the family from 9:00-11:00 to share stories and memories. Arlan was a supporter of many good causes, including Smile Train, Dairyland Outdoor Veterans Retreat, Salvation Army and Regional Hospice. Memorials preferred to a charity of your choice. He was a kind and generous husband, father, grandfather and friend. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him.
