Anthony “Tony” L. Nelson, age 60, of Grantsburg, passed away suddenly on Sunday, December 15, 2019 at the Burnett Medical Center.
Tony was born on February 15, 1959, in Grantsburg, to parents, Irene (Lampe) and Laurel Nelson.
On October 5, 1985, Tony was united in marriage to Kerri Harter.
Tony worked for the Grantsburg School District as a custodian for 8 years and then at Burnett Dairy as a Whey Truck Driver for 30 years. He was also known for his taxidermy business he had for over 20 years.
Tony was very active in the Grantsburg Rod and Gun Club shooting trap. He was also involved with the Phantom Riders Snowmobile club.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, spending time at the cabin and socializing with family and friends. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren, whom he loved dearly. He will be deeply missed, and forever remembered as a devoted husband, loving father and grandfather.
Tony is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Kerri; mother, Irene Nelson; daughters, Shelly Nelson, Tera (Randy) Bowman and Kerissa (Aaron Ostermann) Nelson; son, Alex (Darla Corty) Nelson; grandchildren: Erica, Alethea, Anthony, Elana, Eve, Kane, Asher, Kimber and Brynnlee; brother, Jim (Laurie) Nelson; sister, Mary Jane (Paul) Johnson; sister-in-law, Janice Nelson; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding Tony in death is his father, Laurel Nelson, brothers, Randy Nelson and Rick Nelson; and daughter, Erica Nelson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, December 20, 2019, at 11:00am (visitation from 9:00am – 11:00am) at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Grantsburg. A time of fellowship will follow the service at the church. Interment to be held at a later date at the future Immaculate Conception Catholic Columbarium.
