Alice Marie Mavis, age 96, a resident of Spooner Health System Nursing Home in Spooner, formerly of Siren died September 8, 2010. Alice was born on July 7, 1914 in Chicago, Illinois to William and Lucy Tracy. Alice grew up in Milwaukee, graduating from Bayview High School. She married George Mavis in 1934 in Milwaukee where they made their home for a number of years. During this time she worked as an administrative assistant for about 15 years at the Security Savings & Loan. In 1985, she moved to the Siren area to be closer to family. Alice was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. Her family would like to thank all those at Spooner Health System Nursing Home for creating such a wonderful and pleasant home for Alice. Alice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George D. in 1961, son-in-law Tom Wolosz, and grandson Tom Wolosz. She is survived by her children Mary (Jim) Bucher of Summerfield, Florida; Barbara Wolosz of Alisio Viejo, California and her grandchildren Scott (Cheri) Wolosz; Mark Wolosz; Tracy Bucher and Karen (Shane) Steffen; great grandchildren Lucas and Genevieve Steffen; along with other relatives and friends. A visitation was held on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at the Swedberg-Taylor Family Funeral Home, Siren Chapel. A graveside service was held on Monday, September 13, 2010 at the Arlington Park Cemetery in Milwaukee. Arrangements were entrusted to Swedberg-Taylor Family Funeral Home, Siren.
